The Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Marketing is a Level 9 one-year part-time conversion course aimed at graduates from non-business disciplines (e.g. Science, Engineering, IT, Arts and Humanities) who are already working in business-related roles.
This programme is operated by the Marketing Institute of Ireland in partnership with Dublin Institute of Technology.
This is an opportunity for those who are working in a business role but who don’t have a marketing qualification, to experience an accelerated programme over two semesters of part-time study leading to the award of a fully-accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Marketing. Students will be challenged by a full and rigorous business curriculum and by a peer group of like-minded professionals seeking to develop their business credentials.
The Postgraduate Diploma programme provides non-business graduates with a rigorous conceptual framework and a systematic knowledge and understanding of the issues that are at the forefront of management and marketing theory and practice today, and will gain a deeper understanding of the diverse nature of demands from consumers, regulators and suppliers to enhance their ability to analyse issues and propose business solutions. Students will be equipped with skills and knowledge which can be immediately applied, making them work ready and change ready.
The syllabus is divided into two broad areas: (1) Core business management elements, and (2) Marketing theory and practice.
The modules in Semester One are Marketing Fundamentals, Contemporary Management, Introduction to Finance and Essentials of Economics. In Semester Two the programme covers Strategic Marketing Management, Consumer Behaviour, Doing Business Globally and Integrated Marketing Communications. A series of industry seminars by marketing experts are held throughout the academic year.

Closing date for applications: 31 July 2015. Late applications will be considered subject to availability of places.
FULLY-ACCREDITED POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA
An important note on accreditation: As the professional body for marketing in Ireland, the Marketing Institute recognises the importance of academic accreditation. That’s why we have teamed up with DIT, Ireland’s largest marketing educator, to create and jointly operate this Postgraduate Diploma. Accreditation speaks to a sense of public trust, as well as to professional quality. Accreditation assures our students that the programme is engaged in continuous review and improvement of its quality, that it meets documented standards, and that it is accountable for achieving what it sets out to do.
You must already have minimum second class Honours Degree (2.2 or higher) at NQAI Level 8, or equivalent, in a non-business discipline, AND a you must have a minimum of three years work experience in a business/marketing role within an organisation.
Note: Due to the considerable competition for this programme, satisfying the minimum entry requirement is not a guarantee of a place. Applications will be assessed based on the candidate’s academic grades and will take work/life experience into account. Candidates may also be required to attend for interview.
The Marketing Institute of Ireland offers a Scholarship worth 80% of the fees for the Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Marketing 2016-17. All candidates for the scholarship should hold a 2.2 honours degree and have a minimum of three years work experience. In order to apply for the scholarship, in addition to a CV and documentary evidence of an undergraduate qualification, a 1000 word essay setting out their motivation for applying for this programme, a proposed area they would look at for their management project, and why they feel they should be considered for a scholarship.
