Globally, the dairy industry is facing unprecedented challenges as a category as it tries to stay relevant with a challenging and fickle consumer. Dairy alternatives are having a moment with global sales rising at a rate of 8% annually over the last ten years. More than ever the Dairy industry needs to keep ahead of the trends and appeal to an ever-demanding young consumer.




Agri Economist 

“Dairy -  The Opportunities And Challenges Facing The Industry In Ireland”




Ciaran Fitzgerald is an Agri food economist with over 30 years’ experience in the Food and Drink sector. He has written extensively on the economic impact of the Agri food industry on the Irish economy and on the restrictive impact of supermarket buying power on innovation in the food industry. Ciaran was a Director of IBEC from 2001 to 2005 and a director of the Food and Drink Federation in IBEC from 1993 to 2001.





Dairy Analyst at Rabo Research Food & Agriculture 

“Dare Not to Dairy – What The Rise of Dairy-Free Means For Dairy And How The Industry Can Respond".



Richard works for FAR in Utrecht with a focus on the European dairy sector. He translates developments in the global dairy sector to the European context. Richard previously worked for PwC as part of a Risk Management team, dedicated to the financial services sector. Between 2011 and 2014, he had already worked with Rabobank, first at a member bank in the Netherlands and after that for Rabobank Australia and New Zealand.





Director at Behaviour & Attitudes  

Dairy And The Modern Irish Consumer. B&A has carried out two years of research looking at dairy sentiment in Ireland and specifically with the millennial generation.



Larry has been a market researcher for almost 30 years, and with Behaviour & Attitudes since 1997. He is one of the MBO team that bought the agency, Ireland's leading independent, from its original founders. He joined B&A from Diageo/Guinness. He is the company representative to the International Research Institutes (, B&A’s global network which spans 35 countries, and served on its board for almost 10 years. Larry is a former council member of the Marketing Society & the International Research Institutes and is a graduate of UCD with a Commerce degree and a post grad in Marketing Practice.
