Role Overview


Galway 2020 is seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to join the team. You will lead on the creation and delivery of marketing campaigns working within a highly motivated team. This is an exciting career opportunity for a dynamic and collaborative team player.


The Marketing Manager will have responsibility for the practical delivery of our public facing campaign. The successful individual will have broad knowledge and experience in all aspects of brand, merchandise development and marketing and will be a great communicator with imaginative ideas.


They will enjoy a challenge and be able to both plan and execute activity that will continue to build on the reputation secured so far.

In the role, the individual will be actively involved in delivering all aspects of marketing and brand management in support of our audience development strategies. The successful individual must therefore be confident in the full range of marketing activity, ideally with direct experience in promoting a cultural programme.



The role will report directly to the Communications Director and will have lead responsibility for the following:


  • Accountable for the planning and implementation of all elements of marketing campaigns and brand management.

  • Propose imaginative and compelling creative solutions to maximise audiences and engagement with both a cultural programme and ongoing projects.

  • In conjunction with other team members develop and implement integrated campaigns across all platforms.

  • Manage all print and marketing collateral requirements both on and off site and be responsible for managing marketing suppliers, agencies including web agency, printers and designers and for delivering marketing materials, on time and within budget.

  • Champion the new organisational brand, ensuring consistent roll out across the company, projects, and our funding partners.

  • Work collaboratively with cultural delivery partners, tourism partners and commissioned arts organisations / artists to develop integrated activity plans.

  • Implement CRM system and maintain data systems for customer and audience information.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns in meeting the required objectives.

  • Accountable for people management in Marketing team.

  • Undertake any other duties as required.


Required Skills & Experience:


  • Proven track record of exceptional delivery with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Experience of creating and executing marketing and engagement campaigns across a range of media.

  • Experience of managing external agencies to ensure efficient delivery of projects.

  • Ability and ambition to influence locally, regionally and nationally.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience of using and creating digital content as an integral part of a marketing campaign.

  • Excellent proof-reading, presentation and communication skills.

  • A flexible approach to work and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • A collaborative team player, able to connect and work in partnership with others internally and externally, as well as working on own initiative.

  • Ability to work within defined budget parameters and report on budget status.

  • Experience of working and collaborating with graphic designers.

  • A passion for arts and culture and commitment to making it accessible to all.

  • An understanding of and a personal commitment to the Vision and Values of Galway 2020.

  • Full Driving license.

  • Degree in Marketing or related discipline

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when required.
