Announcing six new Fellowships of the Institute for 2015 to April Redmond, Tom Kinsella, Lisa Browne, Liam McDonnell, Sharon Walsh and Nicky Doran.

Fellowship is the highest grade of membership, and it's a form of recognition of a member’s exceptional professional standing and achievement. The Fellowship concept seeks also to create a cadre of senior-level ambassadors for the aims and objectives of the Institute in regard to strengthening the profession of marketing in Ireland.



April Redmond is Chief Marketing Officer with Kerry Foods, having moved into to this role in 2011 having previously been Marketing Director for Kerry Foods in Ireland. April began her marketing career as Marketing Coordinator in a startup, California Suncare, and was promoted to VP Marketing. She spent a number of years in business development with a small creative shop in the northeastern US, and then ran her own marketing consulting firm, specialising in internet and ecommerce technology. She then took her career into the corporate space, holding a range of senior marketing positions at The Coca-Cola Company and Diageo. April's team of marketing professionals have won multiple awards at the All Ireland Marketing Awards. April is passionate about food, creativity and CSR, and she has established herself as a leading CMO with a wealth of international experience across Europe, North and South America, and Asia.



Nicky Doran is Marketing & Energy Services Controller with Bord Gáis Energy, where his marketing leadership role involves directing brand and marketing plans for all customer segments, setting direction for sponsorship programmes, establishing and implementing a positioning for customer communications across business and residential categories. In addition, Nicky is responsible for residential and business energy services in Bord Gáis Energy. He leads a marketing team which has won multiple marketing awards at the All Ireland Marketing Awards. Nicky previously worked in product management in Bank of Ireland Group. He holds a MSc (Mgmt) in Business Administration from Trinity College Dublin and is also a Qualified Financial Advisor.  In addition, Nicky guest lectures in marketing at Dublin Institute of Technology, Trinity College Dublin, and UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School.



Liam McDonnell is Chief Executive Officer of Dentsu Aegis Network, the leading media and digital communications group with 130 staff and billings of €148m. Liam started his career with the Media Bureau before joining All Ireland Media where he spent three years. In 1988 he moved to Saatchi & Saatchi as Media Manager and was subsequently promoted to Media Director. In 1991 he moved to Irish International BBDO to take up a similar position before returning to All Ireland Media in 1994. All Ireland Media was taken over by Aegis plc and renamed Carat Ireland in 2002. Liam was appointed CEO of Aegis Media Ireland in February 2005, overseeing Carat Ireland, Isobar, iProspect and Vizeum.  He continued in his role of CEO when the companies were taken over by Dentsu in 2012. He has directed, managed and planned media campaigns for a wide range of clients including Bank of Ireland, Heineken, Proctor & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Mars and Diageo.



Tom Kinsella is Chief Marketing Officer at AIB, where he is leading the rehabilitation of the AIB and EBS brands, and the transformation of the customer experience. Tom's team developed numerous commercially effective campaigns such as Backing Brave, for SME Customers, Backing Doing for personal credit, and #The Toughest, which has revitalised AIB's GAA Club Championship sponsorship and which won an award at the All Ireland Marketing Awards. Prior to joining AIB in 2012, Tom spent 20 years with Diageo where he led Budweiser to the No.1 lager position in Ireland. He developed some of the most iconic advertising in the alcohol sector in Ireland, and led some of the largest sponsorship campaigns, but is most proud of his work on Diageo’s Responsible Drinking campaigns. His last role in Diageo saw him lead the global communications agenda for Baileys, working across markets as diverse as China, Brazil and GB.



Lisa Browne is Head of Marketing at Electric Ireland, which serves over 1.3 million energy consumers in an intensely competitive market. Lisa led the highly successful marketing programme to establish Electric Ireland and its distinctive brand, including the partnership with Team Ireland for the 2012 London Olympics, which won the Sponsorship Management Award at the All Ireland Marketing Awards and subsequently won Gold Medal for Best Sponsorship in Europe at the European Sponsorship Awards. Lisa previously held a number of senior marketing roles at Bank of Ireland Group in Retail Marketing, Direct Channels and Wealth Management. Prior to this she was a key member of the marketing team which established the Eircell brand. Lisa began her career as Brand Manager with Tipperary Natural Mineral Water. Lisa is a graduate of University College Cork and holds an honours degree in Economics and Sociology, and an MSc in Marketing.



Sharon Walsh is Marketing Director with Heineken Ireland. She has over 15 years marketing experience during which time she held senior marketing positions at Coca-Cola (Head of Marketing Sparkling Portfolio and Head of Media), Gilbey’s of Ireland and Diageo Ireland (Brand & Marketing Manager, Smirnoff & Baileys). Since joining Heineken Ireland in 2012 as Marketing Director, Sharon has been responsible for the marketing of Heineken Ireland’s portfolio of brands to include the Heineken brand itself, Coors Light, Tiger beer, Desperado, Murphy’s Irish Stout, Paulaner, Beamish, Fosters, Amstel, Moretti, Sol, Zyweic, and Affligem. Since graduating from DCU with a Masters in Strategic International Marketing, Sharon has delivered some of Ireland’s best known marketing communications campaigns and won a number of awards at the All Ireland Marketing Awards.
