Former European Digital Marketing Director, Kerry Group, Shane McGonigle appointed CEO of the Marketing Institute of Ireland

The Chair and Board of the Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII) are delighted to announce that Shane McGonigle has been appointed as CEO of the MII following a comprehensive recruitment drive.

Shane McGonigle has been selected to lead the Executive of the MII after a 5-year stint with the Kerry Group where he held positions as European Digital Marketing Director and Strategic Marketing Director.

Gerard O’Neill, Chairman of the Board of the MII commented that “Shane is the ideal candidate to drive our strategic agenda at a critical time of change in the marketing profession. He will champion our Purpose as we seek to strengthen the standing of marketing and educate, enable and empower marketers at all stages of their career.”

McGonigle has an impressive depth and breadth of experience in the local, regional and global marketing space. He has lived and worked in the USA and Belgium, been on both the agency and the client side across multiple categories, from start-up to multinationals. He will bring a practical focus on membership, events and education at a time when continuous professional development (CPD) is key to career success. Apart from his 30+ year professional experience, he has been External Examiner and Industry Specialist on the Masters course at DIT/TUD, Visiting Professor at the University of Ulster, and is a former board member of the ASAI and President of IAPI.

McGonigle said: “I am delighted to lead the MII Executive team at such an important time for marketing. The MII is celebrating 60 years of marketing representation and uniquely, we operate exclusively in the interests of our members and our members alone. I recognise that as marketers, our collective expertise, honed through continuous professional development, is essential to the success of our industry, the companies we serve, our country and of course, our careers. McGonigle is now in situ at the MII and will be prioritising his connections with the membership base and the wider marketing and commercial eco-system in the weeks ahead.
